The crew joins the production the last few weeks before the show opens, so they must be able to attend all listed rehearsals, events and performances the crew is called for during this tech/ mandatory dates phase of production.

  • The Tech Crew are the operators of lights, sound, microphones and spotlights

  • The Running Crew works backstage in the movement of the set, props and cast

  • The Stage Manager (SM) is at nearly, if not, all of the rehearsals from the beginning of production whereas the rest of the crew come in about a month before the show opens. Once the rest of the crew joins production it is the s SM's job to call the show aka. cue the tech crew when to take their cues! It's a very important job.

  • The Assistant Stage Manager (ASM) has a similar job from backstage. The ASM is in communication with the SM and working to cue and assist the running crew from backstage.
